Payment for Services
The daily rate for hospitalization at PGH covers most services and is set by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services under Virginia law. Hospital charges are the responsibility of the patient or other legally responsible parties. However, no person is denied treatment because of inability to pay the cost of hospital care.
Medicaid covers the majority of the daily rate while Medicare and most other insurance cover very little. Reimbursement Office staff can explain coverage more fully and work with patients and other legally responsible parties to establish benefits and determine ability to pay.
